Disobedient Mediation

In this body of work, I explore the intricacies and interruptions of domestic landscapes, utilizing the dual mediums of experimental video and painting. The video installations offer an alternate perspective, engaging in a creative dialogue that transcends the traditional limitations of painting. This dialogue between video and myself not only opens up innovative formal possibilities but also deepens the complexity of my narratives through the integration of time as an active element. Video compositing becomes a potent tool in my hands, enabling me to dissect and reimagine the conventional visual language of femininity. Through this medium, I create dynamic figure-ground relationships, amplifying and fracturing visual imagery concurrently. In essence, this method allows me to destabilize and reconstruct traditionally accepted notions of femininity, thus adding a layer of critical commentary to the artworks. By oscillating between the two mediums - painting, with its timeless elegance, and video, with its contemporary dynamism - I am able to explore domesticity with greater depth and fluidity. Ultimately, this series serves as an interrogation of personal space, where the intimate and disrupted scenes of domestic life are scrutinized through a lens of modern aesthetics and feminist critique.
